Perceive is an assistive shopping app that uses real-time grocery item recognition to guide users through stores with precision. Unlike conventional tools that flood users with unnecessary information, Perceive focuses solely on items the user actually needs—those on their shopping list.
Through clear directional audio guidance and a screen-reader-friendly interface, the app ensures a smooth, frustration-free experience. With built-in voice command functionality, users can interact hands-free and with full autonomy.

At Perceive, we are dedicated to making grocery shopping accessible for all individuals. We believe that everyone has the right to shop without barriers.

Our assistive shopping app leverages cutting-edge technology to provide real-time assistance. Users can easily identify items on their shopping lists with our intuitive interface.

Our app is built with a focus on the needs of the visually impaired. We offer a hands-free experience that allows users to navigate stores with confidence.
Perceive was born at UC Berkeley as a Capstone project in the Master of Data Science program. Our founding team came together with a shared vision: using AI to remove barriers and empower visually impaired individuals with greater independence. What began as a student project has evolved into a purpose-driven startup focused on real-world impact.

We are working toward a world where grocery shopping is intuitive, independent, and accessible to everyone, regardless of vision. Beginning with a mobile app and expanding into wearables, we are building technology that doesn’t just assist, but empowers people to navigate everyday life with confidence and ease.

Using our app is simple—designed with visually impaired shoppers in mind:
